Taking place the day after the general election was called in May, the Labour Sports Dinner had a real buzz about it.
We were lucky to hear from major names from across the sporting world including, rugby league’s Jamie Jones-Buchanen MBE, rugby union’s Brian Moore, triple gold medal winning rower Andy Triggs-Hodge OBE, England netballer and Gladiators referee Sonia Mkoloma, and many others. The election meant that Bridget Philpson and Thangam Debbonaire had to pull out, but we were fortunate that our sport-loving, Schools Minister Catherine McKinnell and Sports Minister Stephanie Peacock both spoke at the event.
The event proved itself to be one of the absolute highlights in Labour’s annual social calendar, with guest enjoying the stunning venue, professional production and high standard of catering.
